Hello Everyone I back with another D.I.Y. for you all. So I use bullet journaling for organising all the college and personal things or activities and make it bit fancy for just fun (just like bit fancy but minimal things in my life …). With all the bullet journaling and traveling I do, I thought of making a pouch of sorts and ended up making D.I.Y. Envelope Clutch/pouch (I use it as a pouch so works great for me). So let’s start shall we…

Material Required

  • Desired fabric – it can be any fabric you want but keep in mind flowy or netted fabric are not suitable for these pouch. I am using muslin as it is cheap and sturdy (to be honest that’s what I have at home right now…)

  • Fabric glue

  • Sewing thread and needle (optional if you don’t have sewing machine)

  • Sewing Machine (optional if you have one)

  • Fabric paint

  • Brush

  • Broach, Pin or fancy clip (optional)

  • Scissors

  • Chalk or pen

  • Measuring tape or ruler

  • Interfacing (if you are using thin fabric)

Process

1. To make the clutch/pouch you’ll need 100 x 34 cm of fabric. (don’t forget to add seam allowance and you can customize the length according to your desire)

2. To get the desired measurements fold the fabric in half and mark a 50 x 34 cm rectangle

3. Now cut the rectangle while it’s folded.

4. Now sew both the parallel sides of your rectangles and one 34cm side (I used back stitch by hand you can use sewing machine or glue the sides down. also make sure right side of fabric are facing each other of both rectangle) as shown below

Back Stitching done by hands using embroider floss

5. Now flip the rectangle inside out and lay it flat on the working area.

6. Fold the bottom corners in then flip the bottom part up as shown below

7. Now fold the open top part and tuck it in the middle of the folded bottoms so that you can adjust the placement of the bottom according to how much you want upper portion tuck to keep it secure.

8. After you have adjusted the fold accordingly untuck the open top and glue or sew down the bottom according to the placement (keep in mind if you are sewing to not sew the front of the clutch/ pouch, only the back portion) as shown below

9. Now decorate or keep it simple and your pouch/clutch is ready ( I used my own block printed indigo dyed fabric on the bottom of the bag and wore a word with a meaning using black fabric paint )

Tip: if you iron on fabric paint it makes it washable, oh yes while ironing don’t forget to keep a piece of cloth on top of the painted part then iron it.

Front with the word and definition of the word

Front the extra fabric done using block print and dyed in natural indigo color made by me that i stuck on front using fabric glue

Back ( can be used as front depends on you )

pin i am using to hold the flap together it optional but i like it

hope you like this new diy now i will see you in the next post until then

Adios!
